Shopping is always a must on vacation–you’ve got to bring back some souvenirs to all your jealous friends at home, right?! Food Shopping/Groceries
While eating out at Jaco’s many restaurants is a must, every single night can get expensive! If you’re here for more than a few days, you’ll probably need to stock up on some groceries. There’s a variety of grocery stores in town, from the basic corner store to the high quality Auto Mercado grocery store in Playa Herradura. You’ll also find the freshest veggies and fruits at the weekly feria or green market.
Souvenirs
When you’re back home bragging about your vacation, the best way to show off your great time is with unique souvenirs for friends and family who couldn’t make it. From coconut bowls and mugs to little bottles of Lizano sauce, there are so many great gift ideas. On the main avenue, you’ll find plenty of souvenir shops.
Art
Jaco is well known as an art center; the city is covered in murals by well-known artists, there are live art nights weekly, and art for sale in many galleries along the avenue. Whether you’re looking for a small canvas as a remembrance of your stay or a larger installation that you can ship back home, you’ll be impressed with the talent of the resident artists here in Jaco. Surf Shops
If you’re in Jaco for a surf vacation, it’s likely you’ll need to stock up on some surf gear. There are many surf shops in town where you can find wax, rash guards, fins, traction pads, sunblock, and all other surf essentials. You’ll also be able to repair busted boards, or buy a new or used board. If you’re looking to rent a surfboard, there are plenty of surf shacks along the beach that rent by the day or week.
